Today it has been reported that around 100 students were stuck inside a lockdown flat party early Saturday morning where emergency services were called to Unworth Park accommodation block to free the trapped individuals.

Firefighters were forced to break down the locked door with an axe and sledgehammer to free the students. A correspondent for the fire department commented “a large number of people were trapped inside a building due to a malfunctioning door mechanism”. Police have also reported an individual stuck inside required medical attention.

“I was locked in a bedroom but i could see people overheating and stressed in the hallway” said student Chloe Kigira to student newspaper The Mancunian, “We let people in to use our toilet. Several girls were fainting and having panic attacks”.

Students were trapped inside for several hours with videos and images circulating online of firefighters carrying tools towards campus. Police are now looking for party organisers to issue fines.
