If you were relying on a Spanish getaway this Summer we hate to break it to you but it may be soon to say…

Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, said at a recent meeting with the World Tourism Organisation in Madrid that visitors will not be allowed to enter the country until 70% of the population is vaccinated. The rate that people are getting vaccinated currently means it will most likely take until the end of summer 2021.

Sanchez stated “Our internal plan is to promote a strategy that includes vaccination of the Spanish population at the highest possible rate. And we are going to advance with the vaccination at the highest rate until reaching 70 per cent of the population with immunity by the end of summer. This will allow Spain to be progressively better prepared to receive international tourists.”

The infection rate continues to rise in many European countries including Spain with over 55,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic. All non-essential travel to the country is banned until February 2nd.
