Conversations of a temporary ‘booze ban’ are circulating as part of the government’s roadmap for lifting lockdown.
In a recent article published by The Telegraph, the newspaper has disclosed that a temporary ‘booze ban’ is being considered as part of the government’s roadmap for lifting lockdown, which will be unveiled on Monday 22nd February.
The initiative is being discussed amidst concern expressed by Chief Medical Officer, Chris Whitty, and others regarding the combination of alcohol and social distancing measures.
Under the plan for lifting lockdown restrictions, it is expected for schools to reopen and outdoor socialising to be allowed in March.
It is hoped that hospitality may reopen in April and that most people who fall under the vulnerable category will be vaccinated by May, in time for local elections.
With around 11 million people now vaccinated and deaths, hospitalisations and cases all decreasing, the UK government is under increasing pressure to explain how and when lockdown restrictions will be lifted.
