According to the Wildlife Conversation Society’s Bronx Zoo, a 4-year-old Malayan tiger tested positive after being thought to have contracted the virus from the Zookeeper, who was asymptomatic.
According to the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture), 5 other tigers and lions also began showing symptoms of a respiratory illness. No other animals are thought to be showing signs.
The Bronx Zoo has been closed since 15th Match 2020!
Anyone thought to have symptoms are being advised to stay away from pets and animals until more information is known about the virus.
