The Japanese multimedia artist and widow of the late John Lennon has paid tribute to this year’s Earth Day displaying her work around Manchester.
Powerful and minimalistic statements of I LOVE YOU EARTH shine’s above the Mancunian Way today as iconic Japanese artist Yoko Ono reminds us to love, appreciate and protect our planet.
Yoko is an incredibly dedicated activist fighting for causes such as climate change, gun control, protesting war and so much more. The message is taken from one of her activist songs ‘I love you Earth’ that featured on her 1985 album titled Starpeace.
The art installation is also being featured in other UK cities including London, Glasgow and Liverpool.
The installation is part of a collaboration between Yoko and the famous Serpentine Galleries based in London to commemorate Earth Day 2021.
Yoko said in a statement about the project “said:
“There are so many of us in the world who are now awakened, ready to act to save our world.
“So, let’s work together to save this planet.
“Together. That’s how we will change the world. We change, and the world changes.”
