I know, it is incredibly frustrating that these our the steps we need to take as women to feel more safe when going about our daily lives but the latest movement protesting violence against women has been incredibly powerful and it would be irresponsible of us to not do something to keep women safe (even if only one person reads this blog post.

We are shocked and outraged by the news of Sarah Everard’s gruesome abduction and death by the hands of a serving Met police officer.

With the safety of women now at the forefront of the public’s minds, we have listed some apps you can download to your smartphone that will make you feel more at ease when venturing out into the world.

OneScream

Download OneScream, activate your location on the app before you head out and be sure to scream if you encounter any danger.

After you scream, the app will wait 20 seconds, if you don’t open the app to cancel the feature in the event of a false alarm, it will notify a list of people you customise in advance!

bSafe – Never Walk Alone

When you install bSafe, you can create a network of “Guardians” who follow your journey home via the built in GPS tracker – similar to the Uber app!

It also has an emergency alarm that when you press, sends out your exact location to your selected guardians while also recording audio and video from your phone, allowing you to present footage to the authorities afterwards if necessary.

The one downside is that the GPS feature drains your battery.

Red Panic Button

This app sends your location via a Google Maps link to emergency contacts any time you press the button. Makes sense! This app can be used from your phone, iPad or apple watch.
